To understand the difference, let us start with an overview before diving deep into the definition of both these skin concerns. Psoriasis and Dermatitis have many similar signs, but there are way to identify the one. Psoriasis is the overgrowth of cells leading to think, scaly, itchy skin. While, Dermatitis is mostly a hypersensitivity of the skin to clothes, chemicals, food, or any other object. What is Psoriasis? To elaborate, Psoriasis is mainly an autoimmune disorder causing overgrowth of skin cells. It is similar to Atopic Dermatitis, caused by the body’s defense mechanism, identifying the own skin’s cells as foreign bodies and attacking them. In most cases, Psoriasis can be kept in control or its severity can be reduced but can not be cured. So learning to live with Psoriasis is the only option. Psoriasis is not contagious, though the same family members can be affected. What is Dermatitis Dermatitis is seen more commonly in children and can be cured permanently with the age or by removing skin’s exposure from the allergens. Unlike psoriasis, itching is more common in dermatitis. A person with hay fever and asthma are on higher risk of getting affected by dermatitis. The easiest way to differentiate between both is, if there is a thick, silvery-white patch on the skin with the itch, it can be psoriasis. If there is a red, painful sensation on the skin, it can be dermatitis. When you meet a dermatologist for any of this concern, the chances are that they will prescribe topical steroids with Vaseline or any kind of heavy moisturizer. While there is nothing wrong with using these products, it's better if we can cure these concerns with natural solutions. This way, the results will be safer and more sustainable. How Can We Treat Dermatitis Naturally? Currently, at Brillare, we have a 100% natural yet very effective solution Ultimate Soothing Oil for treating Dermatitis but unfortunately, we do not have the solution for psoriasis. Hopefully, we will have the solution for Psoriasis also, very soon. Ultimate Soothing Oil

The term Dermatitis means skin inflammation. Dermatitis is common skin condition which is not contagious and is characterized by redness, itch & inflammation (swelling). Very rarely you may see blisters and/or infections associated with dermatitis. There is plenty of information available on Google on dermatitis but since there are many types of dermatitis, it's difficult for a non-medical person to understand if he/she is suffering from dermatitis and how can they treat it? Ok so let us first understand the type of Dermatitis. Atopic Dermatitis Its mainly caused by an injury or an autoimmune disorder. An autoimmune disorder is basically when your skin’s antibodies do no identify its cells and attack them unnecessarily. It's more common in kids but even at a mature age, genetically or after a certain type of injury, this autoimmune response may trigger and may last for years. Atopic Dermatitis can also be called eczema. Contact Dermatitis As the name suggests, it is mainly triggered when we come in contact with any allergen. Any type of cloth, chemical, plant, or any other material which causes the skin to react abruptly can cause contact dermatitis. Contact dermatitis is also more common in kids as the skin is more softer and sensitive at a younger age. But contact dermatitis is usually reversible. It means once skin’s contact with the material causing dermatitis is removed, the skin gets back to normal condition. Seborrheic Dermatitis Sebum is the natural oil secreted by our skin. But, when this oil secretion level is very high, it provides a fertile ground for microorganisms causing inflammation and itch. It is an advanced stage of dandruff and mostly occurs in the scalp. Many other types of dermatitis are very very rare so they should be left for dermatologists to diagnose and treat. Can We Treat Dermatitis Effectively On Our Own?Yes, We Can. In general, dermatologists suggest1. Topical steroids like hydrocortisone or betamethasone keeps the body’s immune response in check.2. Petroleum gel creates a barrier for skin so it remains comfortable underneath.3. Anti-histamines like Diphenhydramine or Calamine which keep itch under control.4. Antifungal actives for treating Seborrheic DermatitisWhile these products can control the symptoms of dermatitis, they can not cure it of the root cause. Yes, it's not possible to control the immune response of the body but it's possible to strengthen the skin barrier, relieve inflammation, control sebum secretion and make it feel internally comfortable...All Naturally.
